Maricopa Moves Attracted Employees from Across the District

(PHOENIX, Ariz. Feb. 2, 2005) - Maricopa Moves proved to be an energizing and invigorating event for employees across the District. From Chandler-Gilbert Community College to Glendale Community College, the event attracted administrators, faculty and staff from all of the colleges despite the unusual weather.

An intimidating mixture of cool temperatures, rain and hail did not keep people away from the official Maricopa Community Colleges recognition event for the Blue Cross Blue Shield Walking Works online incentive program in support of health and wellness.

Maricopa Community Colleges Chancellor, Dr. Rufus Glasper, Phoenix College Acting President, Dr. Anna Solley and District 4 Councilman, Tom Simplot kicked off the event by welcoming guests as they gathered in Hoy Field.

Despite the weather, District employees were determined to complete a one-mile walk around the campus, listen to wellness advice, receive body fat and blood pressure checks, as well as enjoy a rejuvenating massage. Additionally, it was a magical moment when a rainbow appeared just as the one-mile walkers completed their journey.

As the proud host of the event, members of the Phoenix College community enjoyed showcasing their college, giving everyone a chance to see "up close and personal" the flagship college of the Maricopa Community Colleges.
