Senator Kerry To Speak at Phoenix College

(PHOENIX, Ariz., Jan. 30, 2004) – Senator John Kerry will speak at Phoenix College on Monday, Feb. 2, before he leaves the great state of Arizona. Warm-up entertainment will be provided by singer and songwriter, Stephen Stills will begin at 7 p.m. in the college’s North Gym and Sen. Kerry will speak at 8:30 p.m.

Phoenix College, Arizona’s original public community college, is part of the nation’s largest community college system. In addition to traditional university-bound students, the 13,000-student college also serves a large and increasing immigrant and refugee population and offers many job training programs for adults. Its Custom Training and Education (CTE) program partners with businesses and municipal agencies to meet employees’ language and computer training needs.

Students in Rosemary Hernandez’s Political Science - American National Government class have volunteered to assist in the event planning process. Putting a civics lesson into real practice, these students are working on various aspects of the event, which range from information logistics to media assistance.

Approximately 2,000 locals are expected to to attend the event, which is open to the public. For more information visit Arizona@johnkerry.com.
