Local Author & Monthly Columnist for The Boston Globe to Teach Mystery Writing at Phoenix College

 

(Phoenix, Ariz., Jan. 15, 2004) - Local Valley author and contributing columnist for The Boston Globe, James Sallis will teach Writing the Mystery Story this Spring at Phoenix College.

His class will introduce students to the elements and techniques of writing the mystery story. Additionally, students will learn terminology and concepts that will allow them to successfully participate in writing workshops. Sallis will also offer individual guidance on the student’s development as a writer through writing practice, evaluation and revision.

WHO:
James Sallis is an experienced author with an extensive collection of writing. He has been writing for almost 40 years and has published more than two dozen books as well as hundreds of stories, poems, essays, reviews and translations. His books include nine novels, multiple collections of stories, poems and essays, three volumes of musicology, an acclaimed biography of Chester Himes and a translation of Raymond Queneau’s novel, Saint Glinglin.

His latest novel, Cypress Grove, was released last Spring.

Sallis also writes quarterly columns for The Magazine of Fantasy & Fiction and the literary web site Web Del Sol and contributes a monthly column to The Boston Globe.
