Memoir Class Transforms Author's Life into Art

WHAT:

The Creative Writing Program offers Writing Memoir this semester, which focuses on writing creative nonfiction work by converting segments of the author’s life into art. This class gives students the opportunity to go through the phases of the writing process, which includes prewriting, writing, analysis and revision. In addition, elements of craft will be explored: point-of-view, showing verses telling, and the use of detail.

Students will also learn to constructively participate in writing workshops. Through lecture, discussion, small groups and workshops, students will become better acquainted with the writer’s life and advance in their own development as a writer.
