With
early enrollment for Spring semester already running ahead of last years
pace, an orientation is set to keep new students from getting lost in
the crowd. Most Spring classes begin Monday, January 20. However, entering
students will want to sign up for the New Student Orientation the preceding
Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon in the John Paul Theatre.
The orientation will feature
a two-track program.
Track One will include six
helpful workshops: Teacher Expectations, Test Taking Strategies, Student
Services and Resources, Student Success Strategies, How to Successfully
Apply for Scholarships, and Student Life and Leadership at Phoenix College.
By attending the Track One program, students will learn how to fuel their
pocketbook with scholarships and they will also see how various student
resources can help drive them to future success.
The Track Two program is specifically
designed for ESL students who are bilingual in Spanish and English. The
program will feature a bilingual (English/Spanish) informational session
and will give students an opportunity to learn more about the various
services and resources on campus. The workshops will include Learn about
the ESL program and ESL classes, Student Services and Resources and Learn
How to Successfully Apply for Scholarships.
Those attending the Spring
2003 New Student Orientation can take advantage of raffle prizes, campus
tours and refreshments.
The event is free; however,
students must register for NC 500, Section 9000 to attend.
