Receives 2002 Foundation of Research and Education (FORE) Merit Scholarship
The
American Health Information Management Association's (AHIMA) Foundation
of Research and Education (FORE) recently awarded Phoenix College Health
Information Technology student, Katherine McGee the PRG Publishing, Inc.
scholarship, underwritten by a generous grant from PRG Publishing, Inc.
In 2002, a record 50 FORE Merit Scholarships were awarded nationally to
outstanding students pursuing degrees in health information administration
(HIA) and health information technology (HIT), as well as health information
management (HIM) professionals pursuing degrees to further their careers.
Since the programs inception in 1991, $230,000 in scholarships have
been awarded to more than 175 students.
"Im very thankful and appreciative to have received the PRG
Scholarship through FORE," said McGee. "I feel privileged to
have received a scholarship that will help me with my education as I strive
to achieve my career goal of becoming a health information management
professional."
The FORE Merit Scholarship program is just one of the programs benefiting
from contributions to the Foundations Fast FOREward Campaign
a two-year campaign aimed at raising $1 million to fund initiatives that
will help anticipate and plan for the future of HIM; educate current and
future practitioners; and support innovations that advance the profession.
"We are very proud of Katherines national recognition and thrilled
that she selected the Phoenix College Health Information Technology Program
as the avenue to pursue her career goals," said Debbie Dennis, Phoenix
College Health Information Technology Program. "Her scholarship is
evident of the AHIMA Foundation of Research and Education's continued
commitment to education, students and the health information management
profession."
