A Multilingual Celebration of Dr. Seuss
For more than five years, Phoenix College students from over five different countries have recited Dr. Seuss's works in languages spanning from Somali to Spanish. His books continue to promote child literacy and education, making Dr. Seuss the only children's author whose birthday is nationally celebrated, with growing popularity each year. "It is surprising to me that students from around the world have heard of Dr. Seuss," said Laura Galloway, Communication instructor at Phoenix College. "By performing readings in many different languages, the outreach and impact of Dr. Seuss's work is expressed." Throughout his lifetime, Theodor Seuss Geisel, more commonly known as Dr. Seuss, published 48 books. Many of his popular works have been translated into as many as 20 different languages, which is more than any other children's author in the world.
Parents are particularly encouraged to bring their children to this outdoor celebration. The event is sponsored by the Phoenix College Communication Department and the Phoenix College Student Life and Leadership Office. This event is free and open
to the public. For further information, please call ### |
