College Alumni Association Half-Century Club Celebrates 10th Anniversary

The
Phoenix College Alumni Association Half-Century Club will celebrate its
10th Anniversary with a family of local news celebrities as guest and
keynote speakers during their annual meeting and luncheon, which will
honor all Phoenix College alumni from 1920 1953.
On Friday, March 7, beginning
at 12 p.m., Joe Dana, Class of 1935 and Phoenix College Alumni Hall of
Fame member will join his son, Kent Dana news anchor for KPNX TV
and grandson, Joe Dana, Northern Arizona reporter for KPNX TV to
speak at this reunion-type event, which will be held in the Phoenix College
Culinary Café.
Organized
in 1992, the Phoenix College Half-Century Club is now comprised of more
than 1,100 volunteers from across the country who either graduated or
attended the college more than 50 or more years ago. For the past 10 years,
Half-Century alumni have raised scholarship money to help send financially
disadvantaged students to Phoenix College. Members have also been actively
involved in supporting campus activities and programs such as student
mentoring and PCs new ACE Program.
The Half-Century Club alumni
will celebrate their achievements and reunite at their annual luncheon,
which is the groups premiere event. It will be an afternoon of fellowship
and reminiscing about college years.
The Half-Century Club will
also celebrate the induction of their newest class the Class of
1953.
For
those unable to attend the meeting and luncheon, Phoenix College alum
and local attorney Emily Burns will offer a free seminar on estate planning,
which begins before the regularly scheduled event. The free seminar will
begin at 10 a.m.
The event is open to all Alumni
from the graduating classes of 1920-1953 are especially encouraged to
