SOCIETY OF INTERIOR DESIGN (ASID)

Chapter is directly affiliated with the national organization, which is
the largest, and most well-known professional interior design organization
in the country. Its purpose is to promote a means of networking between
students and professionals in the fields. Student members are encouraged
to attend and participate in local professional meetings. Students plan
activities throughout the year, including seminars, home tours, industry
visits, workshops and social gatherings.
AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL

Amnesty International is a worldwide human rights movement with over 1
million members, including 300,000 in the U.S. Amnesty International works
to free all prisoners of conscience; ensure fair and prompt trials for
all political prisoners; abolish the death penalty, torture and other
ill-treatment of prisoners; end political killings and "disappearances";
and to promote, through education and action, greater understanding and
respect for human rights.

The objective of Ebony and Ivory is to promote the appreciation and understanding
of music for keyboard instruments (piano, organ, harpsichord, and electronic
keyboard). Ebony and Ivory shall support this objective by organizing
concerts and lectures by keyboard artists, by seeking to heighten student
and community awareness of great keyboard composers and compositions within
a diversity of musical styles and periods, and by striving to create an
atmosphere among students which will promote the appreciation, care, and
preservation of Phoenix College's own collection of fine keyboard instruments.

The objective of the Fashion Network is to give students the opportunity
to apply the skills and knowledge they have gained in school to the world
around them. Through guest speakers, field trips, and the production of
fashion shows that will incorporate other student organizations on campus,

The Phoenix College Hip Hop Squad can be seen numerous times throughout
the year both promoting the performing arts, higher education, school
pride, community, and multicultural unity. Their unique, diverse style
is requested both on and off PC's campus. School performances include
athletic events, freshman orientation, Homecoming JamBEARee Week, Spring
Fling, Martin Luther King Tribute, and ultimately the semester dance recitals.
In addition, the group performs at Phoenix community fundraisers, charity
benefits, and awareness events, including the AIDS Walk, Celebration of
Dance, Central Arizona Basketball Organization, and the Martin Luther
King March. Students interested in becoming part of the Hip Hop Squad

The John Paul Theater Troupe is a student organization dedicated to promoting
education, recreation, and production of good theater for the college
and community. Members are encouraged to explore all aspects of theater
from design to construction, writing to exhibition, and concept to production.
Technical, acting, writing, directing, designing or just watching; all
of these parts of theater are a part of the John Paul Theater Troupe.
Theater Troupe members also branch out to the community to assist local
theater at the community and professional level.

The Phoenix College Latin Dance Club is free for all enrolled Phoenix
College students that hold a minimum of 3-credit hours and want to learn
Latin social dances. The Phoenix College Latin Dance Club will enhance
the members learning experiences by holding competitions, by supporting
participation in district, state, and national competitions where funds
are available and by conducting fundraisers (on and off campus) under
the policies and procedures set forth by MCCCD and Phoenix College.
M.E.Ch.A. (Movimiento Estudiantil

M.E.Ch.A serves as a recruitment, retention and support group for Latino
students. M.E.Ch.A's goal is to promote an awareness and understanding
of the Latino culture in relationship to the total school and community.
Model
United Nations

In Model United Nations
students research about countries and global issues. The students serve
as that country's delegate in a simulation of the deliberations of the
United Nations. They work together to draft resolutions that will help
solve problems, similar to the real United Nations. Phoenix College has
two learning conferences each year, in the spring and fall semesters.
Beginners are welcome! Look for posters and flyers advertising the conferences.
Several classes, including political science and public speaking classes,
may offer extra credit for participation. Those who excel at the learning
conferences may be invited to represent Phoenix College as a member of
the PC Model UN team. The team competes in a major Model UN conferences.
Recent conferences have been in Ventura, California and Chicago. The Phoenix
College Team historically has been one of the strongest teams in the country.
Meriadoc Society

The Meriadoc Society studies
and promotes literature, art, philosophy and other subjects. The organization
also provides opportunities for fellowship among its members and serves
the community. Additionally, it supports the Padriac Hill Scholarship

to get involved with the Indian community. NASA promotes cultural exchange
in order to enrich college life as well as serves as a support group for
Native Americans.

Rainbow Spectrum is a club for friends and members of Phoenix College's
gay, lesbian and bi-sexual community. The aims of the club are to provide

Phi Theta Kappa is the only scholastic honor society recognized by the
American Association of Community and Junior Colleges. PTK recognizes
