Phoenix College Selects Dean of Administrative Services


(PHOENIX, Ariz., Aug. 5, 2003) – After a nationwide search, Dr. James Moore of Phoenix was recently selected to serve as the new Dean of Administrative Services for Phoenix College.

With an 18-year career in higher education administration and 10 years of experience in private business at the managerial and executive levels, his expertise proves to be ideal for this position. Prior to this announcement, Dr. Moore served as the Interim Dean of Administrative Services for 18 months.

As the Dean of Administrative Services, Dr. Moore’s primary responsibility is to maintain the budgetary and fiscal health of the college. He is responsible for providing administrative oversight to the college departments and the Budget Review Committee by developing annual budgets, overseeing capital projects and preparing fiscal analyses and projection studies.

The major areas for which Dr. Moore will provide leadership include College Business Services, Technology Support, Human Resources, Buildings & Grounds, Student Financials and the City Colleges Center.

With an undying love for education, Dr. Moore enjoys serving on a number of college and district-wide committees. He has served on the President’s Executive Team, Curriculum Committee, Retention Committee, Commencement Committee, Phoenix College Leadership Council, Technology Committee and the Marketing Committee. At the District level, he has served on the District Deans of Administrative Services Council, Task Force for District Athletic Strategic Plan, Student Information Commission and Arizona Course Applicability System Implementation Team.

"There are so many exciting aspects about this position; however, the ability to impact a student’s experience here is by far the most exciting for me," said Dr. Moore.

Dr. Moore holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University with an emphasis in personnel management. He earned a master’s degree in Educational Administration and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.
