Phoenix College Creative Writing Program Offers Unique Classes This Fall

(PHOENIX, Ariz., Aug. 13, 2003) – Are you interested in writing nonfiction? Poetry? Do you dare dabble in screenwriting? If so, it’s time to tap into your creative side.

Phoenix College, one of only four community colleges in the nation to offer a Creative Writing Certificate Program, will begin its Fall semester on Aug. 25 with a variety of classes ranging from Journaling to Intermediate Screenwriting.

Some classes include:

Point of View
Tuesdays - Begins Aug. 26
6 p.m. – 9:20 p.m.

Every story is told by a voice. That voice and the way the writer uses it to tell the story is the point of view. This class will experiment with different points of view and participants will read and write short stories.

Intermediate Screenwriting
Wednesdays – Begins Aug. 27
6 p.m. – 8:40 p.m.

This course includes the drafting and revision of an original screenplay. It will also offer an overview on the marketing of a screenplay.

Introduction of Poetry

6 p.m. – 9:20 p.m.

Students will explore poetry from many different aspects. Participants will have an opportunity to write, revise and edit poems.

Introduction to Nonfiction

6 p.m. – 8:20 p.m.

This class covers creative nonfiction, including autobiography and biography, essay, reviews and humor.

Journaling
Mondays – Begins Aug. 25
