Phoenix College To Host Arizona Inter-Tribal Student Leadership Conference

WHAT:

The Phoenix College Native American Association (NASA) will host the 2005 Arizona Inter-Tribal Student Leadership Conference for high school and college students throughout the state. The conference will engage students in workshops on college success, introduce participants to the American Indian Studies Certificate Program, expose high school students to a college setting and acquaint them with the new Southwest Studies Program.

Some of the workshops include:

--Native American Scholarships and Financial;
--Pathways to a Legal Education in American Indian Law;
--Economic Development in American Indian Reservations;
--Arizona's 21 Tribal Governments;
--Strategies for Academic Success in College;
--ASU's Indigenous Teacher Program; and,
--Speaking with College Students about the College Experience.

In addition to a number of educational workshops, students can also enjoy entertainment by Native American performing artist, Vincent Craig, as well as an array of eclectic arts and crafts.

WHO:

Vincent Craig is a singer-songwriter, motivational speaker, humorist and cartoonist. He has been the open act for the following artists: Dwight Yokum, T.J. Shepard, Shenandoah, Shelby Lynn, Michael Martin Murphy, Baxter Black, Rick Trevino, Waddie Mitchell, Hank Williams III.
