WHAT:
World-renowned artist Eric Fischl will pay tribute to the one place that
started it all - Phoenix College. From New York to California and abroad,
Eric Fischl's artwork has appeared in galleries and museums throughout
the world. His international fame has not only made him a sought-after
presenter and speaker, but it also has landed him and images of his work
in more than 400 national and international publications since 1984.
As an alumnus of Phoenix College,
Fischl will judge and present his scholarship, the Eric Fischl Vanguard
Award to one student artist participating in this year's Phoenix College
Art Show and Competition. Fischl will also participate in a lively discussion
with local notable artists for a Symposium: Destination 2015: From
New York to Phoenix, Visions of the Future Art Scene.
A proclamation will be issued
by the City of Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon's Office declaring it Phoenix
College Visions of the Future Art Scene Day.

Eric Fischl will be presenting the Vanguard Award Scholarship to one
of the Phoenix College art finalists.

Fischl will be joined by Valley notable artists for a lively discussion
on the future art scene from New York to Phoenix. The artists will include:
Susan Krane, Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary art; Fatimah Halim, Multimedia
Artist; Roman Reyes, Art Educator; Brady Roberts, Phoenix Art Museum;
Steve Jon Yazzie, artist.
