College Offers Free STD Testing, Counseling and Movie Screening
(PHOENIX, Ariz. - April 15, 2005) - Phoenix College will present a special screening of the movie One Week, followed by an interactive dialogue about the movie and the AIDS epidemic. Free rapid HIV testing and counseling will also be provided by Planned Parenthood. The movie and free services will take place on Thursday, April 21 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. One Week is a story of a young woman about to marry the person of her dreams when a week before the wedding she learns that a former lover has contracted the AIDs virus. According to the American Social Health Association, an estimated 65 million people living in the United States have an incurable STD. Every year there are approximately 15 million new cases of STD's. The event is FREE, including free HIV testing providing results in 20 minutes as well as free food and beverages. The movie showing, testing and counseling is sponsored by Sistas of AZ, Planned Parenthood of Central and Northern Arizona and Phoenix College in recognition of National STD Awareness Month.
