Maricopa Council on Black-American Affairs To Hold Annual Convocation at Phoenix College May 5

 

 


(PHOENIX, Ariz., May 4, 2004) - The Maricopa Council on Black-American Affairs (MCBAA) will hold its annual convocation ceremony on Wednesday, May 5 at the Phoenix College Bulpitt Auditorium. A reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the program will get underway at 6:30 p.m.

The Maricopa Council on Black-American Affairs (MCBAA), the local chapter of the National Council on Black American Affairs (NCBAA) and an affiliate organization of the American Association of Community colleges, will honor the African-American graduates and scholarship recipients from the 10 Maricopa Community Colleges and two skill centers during this annual event.

According to an announcement released by MCBAA, "the convocation will feature a video presentation that includes impressions and comments from local African-Americans, education leaders and others on Brown v. Topeka Board of Education, the landmark Supreme Court decision aimed at ending segregation in public schools."

Additionally, the Dias Dance Life and the True Witness mime groups are scheduled to perform.
