Interior Design Club Donates Proceeds

By: Christy Skeen

The Phoenix College American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) recently held a "Designer Yard Sale," which raised more than $2,500. The successful event allowed the club to donate proceeds and interior design materials to three local entities.

"The sale was a huge success," said Ken Roberts, Interior Design faculty. "The students collected merchandise from local design firms and home furnishing retailers, and included such items as a large contemporary dining table, yards upon yards of upholstery and drapery fabrics, lamps, tile and other accessories."

From the proceeds collected, the club created care packages for children at the Sojourners Center and donated $300. The club will also use some of the proceeds to assist the Phoenix College student ASID chapter for professional growth and event activities. In addition, all remaining merchandise from the sale was donated to the Jewish Family & Children’s Service thrift shop.
