Phoenix
College Captures Three National Paragon Awards
by: Mike Murphy
Phoenix College received two
Gold Paragon awards at the recent National Council for Marketing and Public
Relations (NCMPR) national conference in Las Vegas. They were recognized
with Gold Paragon awards in the Viewbook and Postcard Series categories
and also received a Bronze in the Poster category.
The Paragon Awards recognize
outstanding achievement in communications at community, junior and technical
colleges. It is the only national competition of its kind to exclusively
honor outstanding marketing and public relations programs at two-year
colleges. There were over 1,400 nominations for this years competition
in 48 categories and more than 230 colleges participated.
The viewbook is a 20-page
brochure introducing high school students and community residents to the
college and its offerings, and includes profiles of current and former
students and faculty exemplifying the theme "Go far, close to home."
The postcard series also features
the individual profiles, along with timely calls to action, and were mailed
over an eight-week period to households in the Phoenix College service
area.
The poster took an edgier
approach urging high school students to "Go from job slacker to career
fast-tracker at Phoenix College."
The publications were developed
with Propeller Communications in Phoenix.
NCMPR is an affiliate council
of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). The organization
is dedicated to fostering the professional development of college communications
staff in a variety of areas, including marketing, public and media relations,
community and alumni relations, publications, enrollment management and
special events coordination.
