College Celebrates Spring 2003 Education Convocation Arizona
Superintendent of Public Instruction to be keynote
speaker

The
Phoenix College Teacher Education Advisory Council will present its Spring
2003 Education Convocation on Wednesday, April 2 in the Willo Room
Osborn Campus. The day program will get underway at 12 p.m. and the evening
program begins at 5:30 p.m.
The event will prove to be
a special program for current and prospective Phoenix College education
students.
The convocation intends to
provide information to all Phoenix College Education majors, which includes
more than 300 students. Students will receive information on the requirement
of their degrees, financial aid, scholarships, university transfers, preparation
for math and science courses, advisement, counseling services and other
areas to help ensure students success in school and in their careers.
The council is pleased to
have special guest and keynote speaker, Tom Horne, Arizona Superintendent
of Public Instruction. Following his address, college representatives
will discuss the Education requirements for Phoenix College and for transferring
universities.
Students will also have an opportunity to learn more about the following:
--Teaching as a Career;
--Urban Teacher Corp Program;
--Terrorism and Disaster Preparedness;
--AA Degrees;
--Education classes;
--ESL Endorsement;
--AZ Teacher Certification;
--AzTEC Scholarship Program; and
--Future Teachers Club.
