Celebrating 100 years of ARIZONA STATEHOOD and ARIZONA FILMMAKERS
¡Bienvenidos! I welcome you all to the 2012 Phoenix College Latino Film Festival. We at Phoenix College’s Liberal Arts Department join in the statewide celebration of Arizona’s Centennial. This year’s Festival applauds Arizona’s Hispanic heritage in Arizona as we highlight eight films with an Arizona Latino connection. We are screening films from Arizona Latina/o documentary and feature filmmakers that are rarely seen in Phoenix.
The Phoenix College Latino Film Festival celebrates the contributions of great filmmakers. We also wish to acknowledge and express our gratitude to the staff of the Phoenix College Liberal Arts Department and the Office of Institutional Advancement at Phoenix College for their help in coordinating the Festival this year. As with every past festival, the film screenings cost nothing to all who wish to enjoy them and provide an opportunity for the public to engage in meaningful discussions of the films with humanities experts and the professionals directly involved in creating the films.
We hope that the Arizona community, Latinos and non-Latinos, will join us for the 2012 Phoenix College Latino Film Festival to celebrate our heritage through the wonderful and creative motion picture art form. For now, lights out and let’s enjoy the movies!
