Program Description
The Laboratory Assisting Program includes training for specimen processing, inventory management, quality assurance and quality control, phlebotomy, and performing analyses on various specimen types using advanced technology as well as point of care technologies.
Employment Outlook
A multi-skilled lab assistant will have employment opportunities in many healthcare settings where laboratory testing is performed. Estimated salaries range from $11-$15 per hour.
Program Cost
The cost of the program, not including prerequisite courses, is approximately $650, which includes tuition, course fees, textbook and drug screening test for placement in a clinical practicum. This cost presumes that prerequisites have been satisfied.
Program Schedule and Length
Hybrid Courses are offered during the days only. Required core courses are offered one day a week for 8 weeks. A clinical practicum follows the completion of core classes and is completed in 10 workdays or 80 hours.
