Save time and money by getting your Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC) certificate. You can even earn your AGEC-A completely online!
The AGEC certificate fulfills lower division general education requirements and provides a seamless transfer to any of Arizona's state universities.

AGEC is a general education certification of 35-38 credit hours designed to transfer to all public universities in Arizona (Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University and University of Arizona).
When AGEC is certified on your transcript, it transfers as a block to satisfy all lower-division general education or liberal studies requirements. All of your classes will transfer and apply. In addition, AGEC satisfies admission competencies so you are guaranteed admission to any Arizona public university. Your college or major may have additional requirements for admission.
AGEC is a component of each of the statewide transfer degrees, the Associate in Arts (AA), Associate in Science (AS) and Associate in Business (ABus), but can be earned separately. More information about AGEC is listed in the Phoenix College Catalog and at AZ Transfer.com. Your academic advisor can help you decide if AGEC works for your major and will answer your questions about AGEC.
There are three types of AGEC based on the similar requirements of related majors. They are:
- AGEC-A is for the largest group of majors and is recommended for students who have not selected a specific major
- AGEC-B is for business and computer information systems majors
- AGEC-S is for science and some engineering majors
