General Information for the GED Examination
The GED (high school equivalency) test is given by the Arizona Department of Education and covers five subject areas: Language Arts, Writing and Reading; Mathematics; Science; and Social Studies. Both English and Spanish versions are available at Phoenix College.

Minimum Requirements:
Requirements to take the GED test vary from state to state. The requirements provided by the Arizona Department of Education include:
The applicant must be at least 16 years of age and have not received a high school diploma or equivalency certificate or diploma. (If the applicant is between the ages of 16 and 18 years of age, he or she may take the GED test but must provide: A notarized letter of consent to take the test signed by a parent or legal guardian, Verification from the last school attended that the applicant has officially withdrawn or been withdrawn), Two forms of identification, one of which is photo identification AND either a social security card or birth certificate.
Passing Requirements:
A minimum of 410 points on every test (average 450 points) AND a minimum overall score of 2250 points. Upon successful completion and Passing of all five GED tests your GED diploma will be mailed to you within 12 days.
