Phoenix College Testing Center

Placement tests are required for most students, and is strongly recommended for all students in order to help them determine proper course selection.  Course placement testing for English, reading, and mathematics courses are provided on a walk-in basis Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 7:00pm and Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm.  Admission to the College (Admissions & Records) and a current Photo ID are required.  Cell phones and non-approved electronic devices are prohibited in the testing rooms.

Who needs to take placement tests?
Placement tests in English, mathematics, and reading are required for students who are new to college and:

• are enrolling in an English, mathematics, or reading course for the first time OR
• are enrolling as a full-time student (12 or more unit/credit hours) AND
• intend to earn an associates degree OR
• intend to transfer to a 4-year institution

Your completion of the placement tests will help determine your next step. If you test into ENG061, ENG071, ENG081, RDG071, RDG081, RDG091, MAT082, or MAT091, you will:

• reserve your seat and attend a Bear Trax group orientation session
• meet with an academic advisor to help select your courses
• enroll in a college success course
• enroll in your English, mathematics, and reading coursework

If you do not test into any of the above courses, meet with an academic advisor who will help you enroll in your courses and plan your career path. Keep in mind that attending the group orientation and enrolling in a college success course are highly encouraged to help put you on the path to success.
