Welcome to Public Safety

The team of public safety officers at Phoenix College is committed to providing a professional service for the students, staff and guests who attend, work, or visit our teaching-learning community.  We constantly strive to assure that our campus environment is safe, accessible, cheerful, and conducive to academic achievement.  Each of our officers will greet students, staff, and visitors in a cordial manner and render courteous and helpful assistance whenever needed.  We serve the Phoenix College campus with pride and professionalism.

Notice to enrolling students:
All vehicles must be registered with Public Safety and must display a current parking decal. To pick up your parking decal you will need to bring your current class schedule, license plate number, and a make and model of your vehicle.

We serve the Phoenix College campus with pride and professionalism.

For emergency alert procedures, please follow the “PC Emergency Alerts” on the PC Home Page.

Timely Warning Policy:
The Public Safety Department will make timely warnings to the campus community of situations that should be publicized. For example, for lock-downs, a message will be sent through the web page, text alerts, e-mails, and through the workstations located in the classroom.

Upon confirmation of a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of the campus population, the Public Safety Department will initiate the campus Mass Notification System (MNS).  The MNS is capable of reaching those on campus through redundant means that may include text messages, computer alerts, bull horns, or public address systems.  The decision on an appropriate course of action and the type of instructions given to the campus will be made by the Public Safety Director, a campus police officer or other college official based upon the information available at the time.  Actions may vary and may include orders to evacuate a portion of or all of the campus or to lock down in place.

Testing Emergency Systems:  Fire alarms as well as evacuation and immediate warning (MNS) systems are tested on a regular basis and at least annually.

The Public Safety Department keeps a daily log of crime activities. The log is available to students and employees and is located at Public Safety at the bottom level of the parking garage.

The Public Safety department has sworn police officers assigned. Crimes may be reported to the department by calling 5-7911 from a campus phone or 602-285-7911 from a cellular of off-campus phone. Students and staff may also call 9-1-1 for any life threatening emergencies.
