MEDICAL BILLING PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The Medical Billing Program is designed to prepare individuals to process and manage third party reimbursement in non-hospital health care settings. Physician practices, clinics, health maintenance organizations, and other health care entities including private billing services or insurance companies are all employment options. The Certificate in Medical Billing includes both theoretical and practical laboratory instruction on the Phoenix College campus. EMPLOYMENT Trained, qualified medical billers are in demand, particularly if they possess ICD and CPT coding skills. Entry salaries vary depending on qualifications and averages $8-12/hour. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work in medical billing may require physical activities including filing and retrieval of patient and billing records, transporting records, continuous computer data entry, and extended periods of sitting and/or standing.
