Program Description
The Histologic Technology Program trains students to provide clinical support to pathologists and researchers. Application of technical expertise in processing body tissues for microscopic examination is emphasized, including frozen section assistance, embedding, microtomy and special staining techniques. Employment Outlook
The program provides education and training for employment in various medical and bioscience laboratories. According to regional salary survey information, Histologic Technicians earn approximately $14-$24 per hour.
Program Cost
The cost of the program is approximately $2,050 including tuition, course fees, books, and drug screening costs.
Program Schedule and Length
The eight-month, hybrid program begins in late March and ends in the middle of December. Didactic courses and student lab are scheduled on Saturdays from 9:00am - 3:30pm. The hybrid, didactic courses are offered on the Caris Diagnostics Laboratory campus from 9:00am-12:00pm and the student laboratory is scheduled at this local pathology laboratory from 1:00-3:30pm. The clinical practicums are scheduled Monday through Friday, during dayshift hours, and average 10 hours per week.
