Department Mission Statement
The
mission of the Health Enhancement and Lifetime-Activities Program Department is
to provide programs that promote and inspire lifelong learning, education and
career goals and self-development through support of personal responsibility
and integration of mind, body, and spirit.
Therapeutic
Massage Mission Statement
Our
mission is to provide an academic venue for health care professionals in our
community who wish to pursue the goal of therapeutic massage in order to enhance
their academic, occupational, developmental or personal enrichment goals
through the incorporation of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual learning
in a classroom setting.
COURSE
SUMMARY:
This 28 week program is specifically designed for
the Health Care Professional interested in pursuing a Certificate program in
Therapeutic Massage. Upon completion of the program, students will be
eligible to apply for licensure in various Phoenix municipalities.
All classes (except Practicum hours, see below)
will be held on the Phoenix College campus, Osborn site located on the
southwest corner of 11th Avenue and Osborn.
Classes are scheduled with the working
professional in mind. All classes will alternate between one night and
one Saturday for one week, and two nights per week (no week-end day) for the
second week.
INSTRUCTORS:
Our cadre of
experienced instructors are certified with the Maricopa County Community
College District and have years of field experience in Therapeutic Massage.
Classroom instructional format includes both didactic and hands-on
techniques. Instructors guide students
through the process of learning about all aspects of massage, from a
mind/body/spirit approach.
PRACTICUM:
Students are
required to participate in a minimum of 40 practicum hours. The practicum
classes will be held on-site, at the Phoenix College Massage Student Practice
Center. All practicum sessions will be held with a certified instructor
present.
Cost:
The fee for the
entire 28 week Professional Track program is $3280. This fee includes all
texts, lotions, beginning set of linens, program polo shirts. Students
are responsible for purchasing their own table.
