Overview
The Basic Exercise Principles module was developed to provide students with an opportunity to learn basic principles of exercise in an online format. The format is interactive and requires the student to use their own personal information to proceed through the instruction.
The instruction covers cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength/muscle endurance, flexibility, body composition, and safe exercise principles. A posttest is given at the end of the learning module to assess the learning of the student. Students are required to produce two print-outs which summarize the learning activity and the results of the posttest. Instructors can use these reports in the face-to-face interview to ensure that the student understands all basic principles of exercise and how it applies to them.
Printouts for the post-test are categorized by category of fitness (cardiovascular, muscle strength, muscle endurance, flexibility, body compostion and general topics) and then by learning objective (e.g. Predicted Maximum Heart Rate, Muscle Strength Intensity, etc).
