Description of Assessment
The assessment of learning by the student is accomplished in two ways. At the end of the instruction the student will be provided a print our summary of all the information that they entered or selected during the learning activities. The second part of the evaluation comes from the post-test. The student will complete a 25 question objective posttest after which they will printout the results of the post-test for instructor review.
These printouts are vital to you the instructor in order to assess the student learning. To receive full credit for this activity, the student must meet with the instructor face-to-face in a follow-up interview. These two printouts must be provided to the instructor. Combined, these printouts assist the instructor in determining if the student fully understands basic exercise principles and how it applies to their own workout program.
Both printouts are organized in categories so the student and instructor can see areas of weakness in learning. If deficiencies are seen in any one category, the instructor works with the student to complete the learning.
This will not work if the instructor simply signs off on the printouts without reviewing them with the student. Take time to help the student learn. Review the forms, ask questions of the student, correct any errors, ask how these principles apply to their current exercise program, and show the student how to apply it on the workout equipment. This will help ensure the learning is complete.
