Nicole Manus
Nicole Manus
Nicole is the Art and Humanities Director at the Lincoln Family YMCA in downtown Phoenix, In this capacity she works to develop and implement arts related programs for children, teens, and adults of all ages. She is pursuing her Masters of Fine Arts degree in performance and choreography at Arizona State University, where she also teaches an intermediate/advanced modern dance class for non-majors. Nicole has been teaching dance since 1990 and particularly enjoys working with adults. She has previously served as adjunct at Western Washington University, and has been teaching dance based fitness classes for the last three years at YMCAs in Seattle and Phoenix. Her classes are open and accessible to individuals of all fitness levels and no dance experience.

ACE group fitness certified since 1996, Silver Sneakers Certified, teaching group fitness classes since 1992. Classes taught include Body Sculpting, Cardio Combo, Low Impact, Step, Pilates, Stability Ball, Silver Sneakers, Cardiac classes, Stretch and Weight Lifting.

Melissa has been a belly dancer for several years. She has a powerful style and blends many elements into her dance. She is the Director of Unity in Motion and currently teaches classes at Phoenix College, Glendale Community College and The Belly Dancers Boutique and Studio. Melissa says, “YOU CAN DO IT.”

April Styles
April has been in the Fitness Industry for many years. She is currently the Group Exercise and Silver Sneaker Coordinator for Phoenix College. She holds certifications in Basic AMT, CPR/AFD. AFFA Aerobics, IFTA Personal Training, Pilates Certifications, Cardio Kickboxing, Boot Camp, Stability Ball, Step, Low Impact, Aqua Aerobics, Cycling and Silver Sneakers. She is married and has three children, ages 16, 9, and 8 years old. She enjoys almost all forms of exercise and loves spending time with her children and husband.
Sheryl George

Sheryl began teaching aerobics in 1982 and is certified through AFAA. She is married with two young boys, ages 5 and 11 years, and a family dog. Originally from the Midwest, Sheryl lived in the DFW area for 10 years before transferring to Phoenix in 1999. She worked in bank marketing/advertising for over 12 years prior to starting her family. Now, in addition to teaching aerobics and Pilates at Phoenix College, she teaches group exercise classes at several NW valley health clubs and coordinates group fitness classes at the Glendale/Peoria YMCA.

This is Miriam’s second semester at Phoenix College, but her sixth year in the fitness industry. She is AFAA certified, Pilates certified and can teach a wide variety of classes. Miriam loves fitness and seeing people benefit from exercise. It is her passion that she is lucky to be able to use as a career. She is excited to be part of the Health Enhancement team at Phoenix College and can’t wait for each new semester.

Marsha is AFAA certified and has been involved in the fitness industry since 1984. She has been a Group Fitness instructor at Phoenix College since 1998. Marsha’s interests include hiking, gardening, animals, volunteering and driving (she commutes from Prescott!).

Jazmine has been performing Belly Dance professionally for over 15 years in Middle Eastern restaurants and clubs and at parties and various events in Arizona and California. She has been teaching Belly Dance in Arizona for 6 years at community centers and private studios. Past clients include thunderbird College Arabic club, Turkish club and MIMLA, Circus Flora, entertainment, C.C. Jones, Renaissance Fairs, Paradise Valley Community Center and Brittany Dance Academy.

Donna is AFAA group fitness certified, Exercise Science Alliance Pilates certified, and has been teaching group fitness classes since spring 2000. Donna’s cadre of classes include Body Sculpting, Hi-Lo Impact, Step Pilates, Aqua and Stability Ball.
Lidell Jacobson
Lidell Jacobson
Lidell is a 16 year fitness professional. She started teaching dance aerobics through community education in Minneapolis and also taught at Life Time Fitness for four years before moving to Phoenix in 2001. In addition to teaching al types of group fitness classes, Lidell has worked at a national trainer for NDEITA, traveling to various US cities to assist with group fitness instructor certification and CEC workshops. Currently she teaches fitness classes at Estrella Mountain community College as well as at Phoenix College. Lidell has a Master of Arts in Education and works as a reading specialist at Aqua Fria High School.

Terry HurleyTerry Hurley

Terry has been in the fitness industry for over 10 years. She is a Group Exercise Instructor and Personal Trainer at Phoenix College. Terry holds a BS degree in Corporate Fitness and Wellness and is certified with NSCA, AFAA, Resist-a-Ball and Pilates. She enjoys her time lifting weights, taking spin classes, hiking, running and playing with her young children.
