Access Policies
The use of technologies in the Computer Commons is a privilege and access can be revoked if any one of the following occur:
1. Students are allowed to use the lab for academic pursuits relating to their education.
2. Viewing pornography and using the computers for business use are strictly prohibited.
3. Computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis; however, students who are working on class assignments have first priority.
4. Children are NOT allowed in Computer Commons, even if children are supervised by an adult.
5. Please be considerate - no cell phone use
6. Keep FOOD or DRINKS at the Computer Commons entrance.
7. Account sharing is NOT permitted. It is your responsibility to keep your User Name and Password confidential.
8. Please keep your noise level to a minimum.
9. According to federal Copyright Act of 1976, it is illegal to copy any electronic or printed copyrighted materials including: software, music, audiovisual works, graphics, literary, choreographic works, and pantomimes…
Students not adhering by these policies and MCCD Technology Resource Standards will result in the following steps:
1. Warning - notice in writing to the student that the student has violated the policy
2. If the misconduct continues, lab access will be revoked for the semester.
3. A campus incident report will be completed by the lab supervisor and submitted to the Department Chair
4. The incident report will then be forwarded to the VP of Student Affairs, and Safety Office.
5. Students wishing to contest the incident will need to follow the Grievance Process stated in the Student Handbook page C-5.
