Search Tip #1: Understand that the result list is organized by a computer algorithm called PageRank Technology. This technology looks for matched to keywords, recently updated content, selection by users and other things to determine the order of the result list.
Other items of note; Google uses pay per click advertising structure. That is, businesses pay Google everytime you click on their ad. The right side column breaks out the results list by mixed media such as images, books, etc.

Search Tip #2: The order of the results list has been determined by a computer, not by a human! Don't assume the first page of results is the best stuff. Go beyond the first page of results to see what else is out there.
Search Tip #3: Adding various words changes the number of results. Also notice that the search 'geared toward kids' is not a good one. In this search you are asking the search engine to think, to analyze a site to see if it is suitable for kids. People think, search engine look for matches to words.
Search Tip #4: Google search defaults to searching for your words in any order. Quotations indicate that you want the search to be done as a phrase. Notice that putting a sentence in quotes means that you want to find that exact sentence on a webpage.
Search Tip #5: Think like a librarian! When a librarian is asked a question, thye will think about hwo would study the topic, where they would publish the information, and how we can get access to that content. Try it!
