Bows Out of Championship Hunt
After
a victory in its opening game, the Phoenix College softball team
fell 5-4 to Lansing and 3-1 to Parkland to end the Lady Bears title
hopes.

College's softball team, ranked #2 in the nation, scored a 12-0
second-round victory over St. Louis (Mo.) Community College at the
2003 NJCAA Division II National Championships. The Lady Bears will

After

championship round, the Lady Bears responded with 5-2 and 2-1 victories
to advance to the NJCAA DII National Championship Tournament in

College won a pair of 2-0 thrillers against Mesa. Chris McGee improved
to 17-5 by winning game one with a little help from Deanna Camacho
and Diana Mendez's RBI singles. Juliette Martinez had the game winning
hit in the top of the 9th of game two and Ramie Garcia (15-6) earned
the win with seven strikeouts.

Lady Bears scored a pair of shutout wins - 7-0 and 6-0 - over Scottsdale.
Deanna Camacho posted two hits and a pair of RBI in the opener,

Softball opens their
season this weekend with double-header exhibition games against
the University of Arizona Wildcats and the Sun Devils of Arizona
State University. Game times are Friday (1/24/2003) @ U of A at
3:00 pm and 5:00 pm and Saturday (1/25/2003) @ ASU at Noon and 2:00
pm.
Mueller to be
Honored for 500th Victory
PC
Head Softball Coach Heinz Mueller will be honored in December for
reaching the 500-win plateau this past season.
