Women's Soccer Signs Three Early for 2005
Phoenix
College Women's Soccer Head Coach Morgan Lee has announced the signing
of three players from Centennial High School who will join the Bears program
in 2005. Ashley Becko (right), Jenni Quezada (center), and Brooke Wilks
(left) are the three players that have signed their NJCAA National Letters
of Intent to play soccer for the Bears next season.
Becko will be challenging two sophomore goalkeepers for
the starting spot in the net, while Jenni Quezada and Brooke Wilks will
be looking to earns their positions in the defense and midfield, respectively.
"These three players are integral for us next season because they
are very quality athletes that believe in getting their work done in the
classroom as their first priority. Ashley is a solid goalkeeper that we
have been looking at for the past 3 years. Jenni brings us speed,
skill, and aggressiveness to our back line, and Brooke is a true lefty
that has the ability to serve great balls into the box from the left
side of the field. In addition, we will be adding these three ladies to
the two Centennial High players, Alexa Pupo and Jessica Marshall, that
we picked up last year. Anytime you can bring in players who know each
other and like each other already is a big advantage when you only have
these kids for two years. We are very excited about these three young
ladies."
Centennial
High School Coach Russ Dunham tells Coach Lee, "You are hard pressed
to find kids of this quality anywhere. They are good athletes, good students,
and just plain good kids. I am really proud that these ladies have chosen
to play soccer in college, but more importantly to continue their education."
Wilks will be wearing jersey # 3 next season, while Jenni Quezada will
be in jersey # 10. Ashley will be tending the net in a jersey
number to be determined at a later date.
All three players will be attending Phoenix College on an athletic scholarship,
but Becko and Quezada will also be attending
with a Presidential Academic Scholarship.
