Matt Gordon is in his first year as the
Head Men's Basketball Coach at Phoenix College. Gordon,
a former NCAA Division I assistant Coach, came to Phoenix
after serving as the Director of Operations for Double
Pump Inc. Double Pump Inc. is perhaps the most powerful
organization in College Basketball Recruiting.
Coach Gordon served as the Director of Player
Development and assisted in recruiting in the West Coast
Conference at the University Of Portland from 2001-2003.
He also spent a year at Dominican University where he
helped guide the Penguins to a 12-game increase in victories
from the previous year and a spot in the league championship
game.
Before going to Dominican, Gordon spent
a year at Cal State Northridge where he was part of a
coaching staff that helped lead the Matadors to their
first 20 win season.
Coach Gordon graduated from UCLA where he
was a Student Assistant for four years. During his tenure
at UCLA, the Bruins went to four straight NCAA tournaments,
reaching the Elite Eight and Sweet Sixteen in two of those
years.
Matt is married to Iris Gordon, who is the
strength and conditioning coordinator at Phoenix College.

Gordon talks about his new job, "I
am extremely excited to take over the basketball program
at Phoenix College. I look forward to making a difference
in the lives of all the players that I am privileged enough
to coach while I am here at Phoenix College."
Gordon talks about the importance of academics
and graduation, "It is my job here to make sure that
every student-athlete that I coach graduates with his
AA, so they can go on to a four-year institution because
without their AA they cannot go on and play basketball
at the next level if they so desire."
