Former PC Star Hits Three-Run Homer to Help Arizona to Eighth National Championship — Former Phoenix College softball All-American Chelsie Mesa belted a three-run homer to help Arizona defeat Tennessee 5-0 to capture the 2007 NCAA Division I Softball National Champoionship.

Phoenix Captures Fourth Straight NJCAA Division II National Championship — The Phoenix College softball squad won the program's fourth straight NJCAA Division II National Championship with a 5-0 victory in the deciding game over Johnson County (KS). The Bears opened the tourney with an 11-1 victory over Mercer County (NJ), defeated Johnson County 7-5, and then Mississippi JC 5-1 to advance to the Championship round with no losses in the double elimination event. Johnson County scored a 3-0 win over Phoenix to force the deciding game that the Bears won in the shutout. Eastern's Brown, McCluskey Earn Top NJCAA Region I Honors — Eastern Arizona was rewarded with a great regular season as Marina Gusman Brown was named the NJCAA Region I Player of the Year and Head Coach Kate McCluskey was tabbed the NJCAA Region I Coach of the Year.
