Phoenix College &
Pima Make ACCAC Double NJCAA National Champions
After fighting through the Consolation Brackets,
both Phoenix College and Pima Community College won five consecutive
games to capture the 2004 NJCAA National Softball Championships.
Phoenix defeated St. Louis (MO) Community College-Merramec
2-1 to win the 2004 NJCAA Division 2 National Title, while
Pima defeated Gulf Coast CC (FL) 1-0. NJCAA

Pima, Phoenix Battling
for NJCAA D1 and D2 National Titles Pima
CC and Phoenix College are traveling similar roads in their
hunt for a National Championship. Both fell to the loser's
bracket and were forced to win four consecutive games on Saturday
in order to be crowned National Champions. Pima won three
straight to set up a deciding game with Gulf Coast CC for
the NJCAA Division 1 Championship, while Phoenix is in a NJCAA
Division 2 Championship battle with St. Louis Community College-Merramec
(MO).

Pima scored an 11-0 victory over Central Arizona on Saturday
to walk away with the 2004 NJCAA Region I Division 1 Softball

easing through an opening round victory, Phoenix College cruised
to an 11-0 semifinal victory over Chandler-Gilbert and a 9-1

Softball Championships will begin on Saturday, May 7, as Pima
CC is the Division I top seed and Phoenix College is the top-seed

great seasons as both programs saw a multitude of individual

Mesa One of the ACCAC's Best Phoenix
College freshman shortstop Chelsie Mesa ended the 2004 regular
season ranked second in the ACCAC in batting (.552), third
in homeruns (14), sixth in steals (32), first in RBI (86),
second in triples (9) and second in hits (101) and doubles

ACCAC Rules NJCAA's
National Softball & Baseball Weekly Awards
The ACCAC garnered five of the six National
Player/Pitcher of the Week Awards for the week ending April
26. The NJCAA Softball National Players of the Week are Cental
Arizona's Jeanette Rincon (Division I) and Chandler-Gilbert's
Kelsi Jensen (Division 2). Both Pitcher of the Week awards
also went to the ACCAC as Central's Jessica Stubbs took Division
1 honors and Mesa's Laura Chomokos took the Division 2 award.
Eastern Arizona's Chris Fessler won the NJCAA DI Baseball

in DII Poll, Five ACCAC Programs in First National Polls
Phoenix College remains the nation's top-ranked
program in the NJCAA Division II poll, while Mesa remains
third and Glendale moves up one spot to 14th. In the NJCAA
Division I poll, Pima jumped a spot to #2 and Central Arizona

ACCAC Boasts Three
Softball National Players of the Week The
ACCAC sported the NJCAA's Division I Player and Pitcher of
the Week and the Division II Pitcher of the Week for the week
ending April 11. Pima's Veronica Ralston was the DI Pitcher
of the Week, while teammate Ashley Monceaux earned the Palyer
of the Week honor. Ramie Garcia of Phoenix College was selected
