WSFL Teams Go 3-1 in Bowls
The Western States Football League had an outstanding
showing in 2004 bowl games as Dixie State, Pima and Snow each recorded
victories. Scottsdale, this season's League Champion, was the only
WSFL program in a 2004 bowl game not to gain a victory.
Dixie State, ranked seventh, upset #4 Grand Rapids
in the Dixie Rotary Classic in St. George, Utah.
Pima, ranked 13th, upset #3 Kilgore 10-7 in a defensive
battle at the Pilgrim's Pride Bowl Classic. Pima QB Royal Gill hit
Brian Hernandez with a 21-yard touchdown pass for the game's only
touchdown to give the Storm the victory.
Snow entered the Zions Bank Top of the Mountain Bowl
unranked and scored a convincing 45-7 victory over #11 Rochester.
Scottsdale, ranked 5th in the nation, hosted the Valley
of the Sun Bowl and fell to #6 Coffeyville 33-7.
