selected to the Kodak/WBCA All-American First Team and
three other ACCAC players earned Honorable ention honors.

Central Arizona
Captures Title, Advance to National Tourney
Central Arizona remained undefeated
and #1 ranked in the nation with a 102-58 victory
over Cochise in the Championship game of the NJCAA
Region 1 Division II Tournament. Central, the defending
national champions, will begin defense of their crown
in Salina, Kansas, on March 21. Danielle Green led
CAC with 33 points and eight boards in the title game
to be named Region I Playoff MVP. Teammate Aisha Mohammed
posted a double-double with 24 points and 18 rebounds.

Chandler-Gilbert
Captures Region I Division II Championship
Chandler-Gilbert scored an 86-71
victory over Scottsdale to capture the NJCAA Region
1 Division II Championship. CGCC's Nikita Gordon was
named the Playoff MVP. Gordan tallied 16 points while
teammate Sarah Hays led all scorers with 20 points.
Scottsdale was led by Tanisha Bitsoi's 18 points.

Cochise Upsets
Yavapai for Date with Central Arizona for Title
#3 seed Cochise travelled to #2
seed Yavapai and scored a 75-63 upset victory to advance
to the finals of the 2006 NJCAA Region 1 Division
II Tournament. Cochise will now face #1 seed Central
Arizona, who is undefeated and ranked #1 nationally,
for the Championship on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

I Playoffs Set The
NJCAA Region I Division I Playoffs begin on March
8th when #3 seed Cochise plays at #2 seed Yavapai
at 7:30 p.m. They will be playing to advance to the
title game on March 10th at #1 seed and undefeated
Central Arizona at 7:30 p.m. In the Division II tourney,
#3 seed Scottsdale plays at #2 seed Mesa and #4 South
Mountain is at #1 Chandler-Gilbert at 7:30 p.m. for
the first round on March 7th.

Dominates ACCAC & NJCAA Region I Post-Season Honors
As you would expect
of a #1 ranked undefeated team, Central Arizona garnered
numerous individual awards when the ACCAC and NJCAA
Region I announed this season's selections. Aisha
Mohammed earned ACCAC Player of the Year, First Team
All-ACCAC and First Team All-Region. Central Head
Coach Lin Laursen garnered yet another ACCAC Coach
of the Year honor. Overall, Central Arizona placed
three players on each the All-ACCAC and All-Region
Teams. Chandler-Gilbert's Sarah Hays earned the ACCAC
Rookie of the Year award.

Arizona's Aisha Mohammed helped keep the Vaqueras
undefeated and #1 in the nation to earn the ACCAC's
Division I Player of the Week honor. Mesa's Jamie
Nesbit earned the Division II honor for the second
consecutive week after leading the T-Birds to a pair
of Conference victories.

earned the ACCAC Division I Player of the Week award

Bitsoi helped the Artichokes to a pair of victories,
including a win over #6 ranked Chandler-Gilbert, to
take home ACCAC DII Player of the Week honors.

Another ACCAC Award, Nesbit Honored for DII
Central Arizona's Danielle Green
continues to help her squad remain undefeated and
#1 in the nation. She also continues to rack up ACCAC
Player of the Week honors as she won her third such
award of the 2005-06 season. Mesa's Jamie Nesbit was
awarded ACCAC Division II Player of the Week award
after averaging 14 points and eight assists in a pair
of victories for the T-birds.

Lin Laursen
Sets NJCAA Record with 888th Career Victory
On Saturday, January 21st, Central
Arizona Head Coach Lin Laursen recorded her 888th
career victory to set the all-time NJCAA record for
wins. The 888th victory came in a convincing 113-48
win at home against ACCAC foe Scottsdale. Laursen,
whose CAC squad is the defending National Champions
and currently ranked #1 in the nation this season,
tops the previous record of 887 held by Lorene Ramsey.
Ramsey retired from Illinois Central with a career
record of 887-197 in 33 years of coaching. Laursen
now has a 32-year record of 888-140 at Central Arizona.

Lin Laursen Ties NJCAA Record Central
Arizona Head Coach Lin Laursen tied the NJCAA record
for most career victories at 877 when her Lady Vaqueras
defeated South Mountain 123-26 on Wednesday night.
The victory ties her with Lorene Ramsey for the record
for most wins by a women's basketball coach in the
NJCAA. Ramsey retired from Illinois Central with a
career record of 887-197 in 33 years of coaching,
Laursen, who has a 32-year record of 887-140 at CAC,
can set the record on Saturday when Central host ACCAC
foe Scottsdale.

Green helped to keep Central Arizona undefeated with

double against Phoenix, to earn ACCAC Division I Player

after 24 points in a pair of Gaucho victories.
