The NJCAA announced today that the Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending December 13, 2003, is Arizona Western's Sugeiry Monsac. The 6-1 forward from Villa Maria Town, Dominican Republic, led Arizona Western to victories over Pima and Mesa. Monsac began the week with a 13-point and 12-rebound effort against Pima before posting 22 points, 17 rebounds, four assists and five steals against Mesa.

Monsac's honor comes one week after Central Arizona's Rashidet Sadiq took the first weeklt National honor of the 2003-2004 season. Sadiq led Central Arizona to a 2-0 week for the week ending December 6. Sadiq, the 2002-03 NJCAA Region I Player of the Year and NJCAA All-American, recorded two double-doubles with 34 points and 14 rebounds against Chandler-Gilbert and a 23-point/14-rebound effort against Cochise.
