Case Study #4

A 36-year old female presents at the dental office for relief of pain which she states is concentrated in the front of her mouth. She describes the pain as acute and states that her front tooth feels “high.” The pain has been constant for the past month, and she has been self-medicating with acetiminophen.

Review of her medical history reveals an allergy to sulfa drugs, and that she is presently taking birth control pills. Her blood pressure is 124/71 and her vitals are normal. Extra-oral exam reveals tender and palpable submandibular lymph nodes.
