Based on your existing knowledge, click on the appropriate answer to the questions that are presented to you. Be assured that immediate feedback will be provided to advise you on the correct answer and the rationale behind that answer.

While standing at the reception area of the community health center where you practice, you see a former patient of yours, Betsy Ruiz, a 26-year old Mexican-American female, waiting for her husband who is presently receiving medical care for a broken ankle. After extending greetings to her, she confides in you that she is three months pregnant with her first child.

Since you have a bit of free time, you decide to take this opportunity to discuss some oral healthcare issues with her, and so you bring her back to your operatory. The following conversation ensues:

"Betsy, have you had any dental treatment lately?"

"No, it's been at least six years since I've been to a dental office to get some cavities filled and probably over seven years since I've had my teeth cleaned. I know I should get them checked since a lot of my teeth hurt, especially when I eat or drink anything cold. I can even feel a hole in my back tooth that hurts a lot. I also need them cleaned as my gums have been bleeding a great deal lately when I brush my teeth."
