Work Study Student Process:
  • To be eligible to receive Federal Work Study, students must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and complete their financial aid file with the Phoenix College (PC) Financial Aid Office.   Federal Work Study funds are awarded to students who demonstrate financial need as determined by the results of the FAFSA.   Funds and employment positions are limited and are available on a first come first served basis.  It is recommended that you apply early and have your Financial Aid file completed on or before the PC Priority date to help maximize your financial aid award.

Recruitment responsibilities include updating records in the alumni database, increasing membership in the LinkedIn alumni association group through online invitations, and assisting in the coordination of college and alumni special events. Front desk/Receptionist responsibilities include, but are not limited to: answering phones and greeting alumni and volunteers in a professional & friendly manner. Other duties may include: word processing, filing, faxing, copying, printing, mail distribution and occasional delivery on campus. Works with a diverse population of administrators, faculty, staff, students and the public. Essential Functions 80% - Assists with the day-to-day operation of PC Employee Services by providing general clerical support, this includes back-up receptionist, composing routine correspondence, coordinating services such as printing, word processing, filing, preparing and printing reports, preparing records for storage and destruction, screening in-coming telephone calls and routing to appropriate personnel at Phoenix College or other MCCCD campuses and Maricopa County Community District Office; 20% - Provides assistance with various recruitment activities and payroll functions as appropriate.  The Computer Commons is an instructional open-computer lab facility available to all Phoenix College faculty, staff and students. Student assistants provide support to students, faculty and staff with their hardware/software questions in an open lab environment. Duties include open/close the lab, provide help-desk coverage, setup classrooms, online course support, help students create their user accounts, help students reset their password, printing, saving documents, general clerical and any other duties assigned. Student Assistants must have good customer service experience, computer usage experience, MS Office experience, follow directions well, good communication skills and work well with our diverse student population.
