Bashas' contracted with Phoenix College's Custom Training
and Education Department to provide language classes for our
managers. Phoenix College instructors and administrators lived
up to their name and expertly customized a professional Spanish-language
program for our Food City managers...Thanks to Phoenix College,
Bashas' now has many Food City managers with basic functional
Spanish-language skills. Many members in the Phoenix College
ESL program will soon be ready for promotions or advancement
due to their newfound language abilities. Thank you, Phoenix

Watson, from JFCS' Home-Based Services wrote: "Thanks
very much for providing me with the opportunity to participate
in the Spanish class. Because a significant number of our
clients are Spanish speaking, I feel it is crucial to learn
as much of the language as possible. I had recently taken
another Spanish language class...and did not find it to be
nearly as helpful or informative as the class offered by Phoenix
College at JFCS. Our instructor, Loida Gutierrez, was extremely
efficient and helpful. I've had the opportunity to use what
I've learned in communicating with clients. I have a lot to
learn, but taking this class is a good start!" Lena Mathoes,
from JFCS' Home-Based Services wrote: "I was impressed
at how willingly Frances Ortiz and JFCS accommodated us with
a class that met our
needs. Our instructor was personable and had unique methods
of teaching Spanish related to our field. Not only did I improve
my speaking abilities, I learned a lot about Mexican culture,
literature and history-Muy interesante! I found myself practicing
with my clients and they thought it was great!
