Beginning Fall 2004, Phoenix College
Business Department is offering the courses described below.
All courses will prepare students interested in the Arizona
Department of Insurance licensing examination. Students will
also be well prepared for an entry level position in the insurance
industry and unlimited potential!
GBS 258 - Principles of Property
and Liability Insurance
Basic Principles of Insurance. Introduction to insurance contracts.
Overview of company functions and operations including ratemaking,
underwriting, claims, adjusting, and marketing.
Prerequisite: None Credits: 3

at Phoenix College on Saturdays from 9 am until Noon for 14
weeks starting September 11, 2004 through December 11, 2004
Spring 2005, the following courses will be offered in addition
to GBS 258:
GBS 263 - Personal Insurance
Understand and analyze standard types of personal property
and liability insurance coverage, and develop a basic understanding
of life insurance, health insurance, and financial planning.
Prerequisite: GBS 258 or permission

GBS 264 - Commercial Insurance
Understand the property and liability exposures of businesses
and analysis of major types of insurance needed by business.
