• Phoenix College hosted the HBCU Fair today that was attended by area high school students. This event was co-sponsored by the PC Black Student Union (BSU) and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Delta Beta Omega Chapter. Students heard guest speaker, Byron V. Garrett, from the Governor's Office for Children, Youth and Families. They also had the opportunity to visit with college recruiters from HBCUs - - Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Thank you to English faculty member, Dr. Camilla Westenberg and the BSU students for their efforts to make this a successful college fair day.

• Our Celebrate Community Day event last Saturday resulted in a lively and colorful campus that was enjoyed by staff and visitors alike. I want to give a special thanks to all of those who took time out of their Saturday afternoon to provide and enjoy the information booths, food, games, face painting, music and live performances. It was a successful event thanks to the collaboration among many of you. The event was also attended and enjoyed by football players and fans from Dixie College, our opponent that day. A special thanks goes to Mike Murphy and Kelly Loucy for great teamwork in planning this event.

• If you have not had a chance to stop by the Phoenix College awards display in the Administration Building, I encourage you to do so.  This unique display showcases our talent and dedication to the college.  Currently on display are awards and honors bestowed on Marketing and Public Relations, Special Services, Athletics and Business Education.  If you have an award or plaque that you like to display, please call Mike Murphy, director of marketing and public relations at (602) 285-7853.
