• All Campus Meeting
Our meeting last Friday introduced additional new pieces of our marketing campaign and a new look for our mascot. Bumstead’s new look was welcomed and applauded by fellow co-workers.
If you haven't seen him, he will be making appearances throughout JamBEARee Week.

Mike Murphy, director of marketing and public relations, gave a great overview of the many facets of our marketing campaign. If you missed the all employee meeting last Friday, I encourage you to visit the new Marketing and Public Relations web page at www.phoenixcollege.edu/marketing.  This site contains a number of helpful items to successfully market and publicize your department and/or program.  Some items on the page include: Graphic ID Guide, PC photo gallery, business card order form, PC logos, Web templates, campus calendar, current news releases, and more. Everyone is encouraged to read the Graphic ID Guide.  This unique tool will allow PC’s message to remain consistent in everything we do and/or produce.

Also, mark your calendars for the next All Campus meeting scheduled for Nov. 6 at 7 a.m. in the Bulpitt Auditorium.

• 2003 United Way Campaign Kick-off
All employees recently received a letter from the chancellor encouraging us to participate in this annual effort. United Way is dedicated to improving lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community. Your support helps agencies address the valley’s most critical human care needs. In addition, through the United Way campaign, you can specify that all or part of your donation be directed to the PC Scholarship Fund. Phoenix College has established the following goals for this year’s United Way campaign.

PC's 2003 United Way Campaign Goals
Participation: 160 employees contributing
52 Club: 52 new contributors each giving one dollar ($1.00) per week
Leadership: 10 employees contributing $1,000 or more
10% Increase from 2002: $1,534

Please remember that United Way agencies provide crucial services, not only to our future students, but also to current students and Phoenix College employees. Your contribution, regardless of its size, will go a long way to brighten someone’s future.

• Change to the Facility Rental Process
The form used to request reduction or waiver of fees for facility rental/use should continue to be submitted to Priscilla Gonzales. Ronnie Elliott, manager of college business services has been appointed as my designee to review and respond to all Facility Rental Fee Waiver Request forms.

• Phoenix College To Celebrate John Paul’s 85th Birthday
The Phoenix College Theatre Department will host a reception on Thursday, Oct. 2 after the opening performance of Picasso and the Lapin Agile to honor former instructor and theatre director, John Paul, who will turn 85. The John Paul Theatre building on the Phoenix College campus continues to be a tangible symbol of his dedication to the campus, the community and students.

John came to Phoenix College in 1948 and retired in 1983.  During that time, he directed over 60 plays while teaching countless speech and theatre classes.   The play will get underway at 1 p.m. and the reception will begin at 3 p.m. in the lobby of the John Paul Theatre.  Complimentary tickets will be given to all faculty and staff who wish to attend the 1 p.m. matinee on Oct. 2.  However, you do not need a ticket for the birthday celebration. Former students and friends of John Paul are encouraged to attend.  For more information or to RSVP, please call (602) 285-7300.
