1. Catherine Dockendorff, adjunct faculty - voice, will be featured in a concert presented by the CD Singers, directed by Daniel Durand, Sunday, November 14, at Trinity Cathedral, 100 W. Roosevelt St. in Phoenix. You may recall that the cathedral building was gutted by fire some time ago. It has been newly renovated and has retained its acoustical excellence.

The chorus will be singing works by Palestrina and Monteverdi. Mr. Durand and Dr. Curt Sather will perform a piano duet with narration by David Cohen, ASU faculty, based on Hilaire Belloc's "The Bad Child's Book of Beasts," assisted by Neil Cohen as narrator. Ms.Dockendorff will sing songs by Johannes Brahms.

Tickets for the performance are $12 general admission, $10 students and seniors. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. Free parking is available just north of the cathedral. For more information, call Lisa Genuit (480) 496-9437.

2. Congratulations to Kathy Green and Paul DeRose for successfully completing the Chairs Academy program.

3. On November 2, 2004 Maricopa County voters decisively approved Proposition 401 with 76% of voters saying yes. Thank you to everyone who worked to achieve this success.

4. Mark your calendars for the International Story Share Festival set for Wednesday, Nov. 17. This year’s event, entitled U.S. experiences that have made an impression on me, will get underway at 5:30 p.m. in the Dome Conference Room. For more information, please call 285-7319.

The International Story Share Festival is a unique event where students of diverse cultures come together through the art of oral history.

5. Congratulations to Martin Etchart (English) for the recent publication of his first novel, The Good Oak

”Martin Etchart has given us that rare thing: a heartfelt book written with clear beauty. The Good Oak is not only about the New West, it is also about the oldest verity: the value of family. Who knew that this crazy sheep drive would become so magical: a flock of sheep through the suburbs, across a golf course, and a grandfather and a grandson relearning life’s oldest lessons. This is a story to treasure,” writes Ron Carlson, author of the story collection A Kind of Flying.

6. Phoenix College student, Sarah Lobstein has been named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Player of the Week for Division II Volleyball. Congratulations!
