• The annual campaign has come to a close and provides the opportunity to once again thank members of the Phoenix College family for helping the Maricopa County Community Colleges raise funds for United Way. Just within 4 1/2 weeks, Phoenix College raised $12,694. I also must acknowledge those brave individuals who withstood the cold waters of the dunk tank to raise almost $250: Joy Fitzpatrick, Library staff and PSA President; Ron Starkey, M&O – HVAC/Crafts; Jim Brown, IKON Copy Center; Brenda Lucero, Industrial Technology; and Dr. Jesse Mireles, President’s Office. Meeting Announcements • All-Campus Meeting – I invite everyone to attend one of two sessions on Strategic Planning and NCA/HLC Accreditation this Thursday, Nov. 6 in the Bulpitt Auditorium. Topic: Strategic and Accreditation Planning: What role will I play? Please mark your calendars for one of the scheduled two sessions: 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Achievements • Congratulations to the volleyball team for completing their most successful season in the history of the program at Phoenix College. The team will compete in the regional tournament this Thursday through Saturday at Scottsdale Community College. Show your PC spirit by supporting the team this Thursday at 5 p.m. as they take on Glendale Community College. Remember to wear your Blue and Gold. • Congratulations to the A.W.A.R.E. Club for collecting more than 300 pairs of socks during the club sock drive. Donations will support the homeless vets and the Veteran’s Standown. Special thanks go to A.W.A.R.E. Club president, Tom Whitmer for his generosity and dedication to this project. • One of our very own students, Jeremiah Armenta, will display his
award-winning photography at the Art One Gallery, Inc. in Scottsdale this
Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. He was selected to show his work
after winning a scholarship from the Arizona Artists’ Guild. For a
sneak preview, visit http://www.pc.maricopa.edu/news/October%2003/artistguild.html.
