1.  Congratulations to Sue Burrola upon completion of her role as 2003-2004 PSA District president.  Sue is to be commended for her hard work and leadership commitment to Phoenix College and PSA.  Also, it gives me great pleasure to congratulate Cheryl Badone (Library) on her recent appointment as the 2004-2005 Professional Staff Association District Executive Board treasurer.

2.  Kudos to the staff of PC's ACT Center.  During a recent visit to the Center by a regional consultant, it was noted that "the facility creates a welcoming, comfortable, and professional environment.  The staff are very accomplished, knowledgeable, and skilled at the test delivery process.  To summarize; staff, facility, and equipment all help to make the Phoenix College ACT Center an exemplary ACT Center."
3.  Congratulations to Genevieve Watson (Financial Aid).  During the annual Western Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (WASFAA) conference, Genevieve’s financial aid peers selected her as the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award.  This award is given to an individual who has made “sustained and significant contributions to the financial aid profession and the students served.”

WASFAA is a professional organization of individuals from eight states and territories of Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, Guam, the Northern Marianas Islands and the Freely Associated Nations of the Pacific.

4.  The Arizona Department of Water Resources informed Phoenix College that it conserved 13 acre feet of water during 2003.  The college was allotted 95.06 acre feet; however, we only used 81.97 acre feet of water. Great work Phoenix College!

5.  Congratulations to the Phoenix College Softball team.  For the fourth time in the program’s history, the Bears have earned the NJCAA Division II National Championship.  A special thanks to Coach Heinz Mueller for his dedication and commitment to the team.
